Ali Riaz teaches political science at Illinois State University where he holds the University Professor designation. He was the chair of the Department of Politics and Government between 2007 and 2017. He previously taught at universities in Bangladesh, England and South Carolina, and worked as a Broadcast Journalist at the BBC World Service in London. Riaz served as a Public Policy Scholar at the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars at Washington D.C. in 2013, and as a consultant to various international organizations. His recent publications include Bangladesh: A Political History since Independence (2016). Riaz published with Prothoma thrice, including How Did We Arrive Here? (2015).
